Dubai is a cosmopolitan Emirate with a growing and diverse population.  It has attracted a significant influx of expatriates making up almost 80% of the overall population.  With an increasing population comes increasing demand for quality healthcare, particularly in those areas which have seen the largest population influx.

The Dubai Health Authority identified a market gap for provision of urgent care and other hospital services within a tourist area.

Our client aimed to meet the local need by converting an office into a 150 bed general hospital with and urgent care centre and wellness and prevention services.

    Solution

Our client is a well established company in Dubai.  Its vision is to create high value and sustainable projects which provide a lasting legacy for communities.  To address evolving healthcare challenges, they committed to develop a new hospital in the tourist area.

They wanted to collaborate with an organisation that had proven healthcare experience of working in partnership with international clients, and that could bring the very best innovation and quality of healthcare to the project.

NHS Northumbria International Alliance was delighted to be selected as a provider of healthcare consultancy services, and to assist in developing the clinical model for an urgent care centre and wellness and prevention centre.

As part of our project approach, we researched local health priorities, including a review of information provided by the client and the Dubai Health Authority.

Our team worked closely with expert clinical and management colleagues to develop bespoke outline clinical models and requirements which were shared with the client at workshops.

’I have had the pleasure of meeting the NHS Northumbria International Team on numerous occasions and have visited their facilities in the UK.

Their work is of the highest quality and I have been impressed with the team’s approach and support they have given to my team as  we develop our hospital and  the services within it.

The team not only utilise international best practice, but also  have the necessary skills to adapt this to the local context  – at all times ensuring services are at the highest quality. ’’ – Client

    Outcomes

We produced NHS detailed clinical models, the schedule on international best practice and evidence, yet relevant to the local context. We provided high level of support and a nuof accommodation, staffing and equipment and other key requirements. These were based mber of insightful ideas relevant to the development of the high quality urgent care and prevention and wellness centres.

The regulatory bodies approved the service design.

Due to the success of this initial project, we have demonstrated that we can be a trusted partner. We have been requested to continue our support into other service lines within this hospital, and another 6 hospitals the client is constructing and operating.
