Irish healthcare business sign MOU with NHS Northumbria International Alliance
NHS Northumbria International Alliance have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Vanguard Health Services International (VHSI). VHSI are an Irish company aiming to revolutionise how both public and private healthcare is delivered in Ireland by replacing the model of one-dimensional episodic care with an integrated approach that delivers consistently better patient outcomes at substantially lower cost. The MoU begins the process of negotiating a formal contract for NHS Northumbria International Alliance to support the development of Integrated Practice Units in Dublin as a clinical adviser.
This agreement also paves the way for a long term strategic partnership in which VHSI and NHS Northumbria International Alliance can work together on other commercial opportunities both in Ireland and further afield.
The MoU was signed at the end of a day in which key VHSI staff visited Northumberland and were shown a number of crucial Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHCFT) and Northumberland County Council (NCC) facilities. These included Hexham General Hospital, Morpeth NHS Centre and Foundry House, home of OneCall. VHSI met frontline staff from across both NHCFT and NCC who showcased our unique model of integrated care in action.
Audrey McDonnell, CEO of VHSI said ‘It was a very impressive day and it was a pleasure to have seen you all in action and the fantastic facilities in you have put in place. There is no doubting everyone’s relentless work to ensure your community has access to an outstanding health and social care service. We all benefitted significantly and are really looking forward to working with you and the team going forward.
Having had the opportunity to meet with you and your team my head is buzzing with ideas and questions on some of the possibilities of what we could achieve’
Peter Jackson, Leader of Northumberland County Council said ‘we are delighted to be working with VHSI who have a clear vision for improving healthcare in Ireland. It is obvious that many aspects of the unique model of integrated care developed here in Northumbria can be applied to the Irish context and will be of huge benefit’
Allison Joynson, Director of International Projects at NHS Northumbria International Alliance said ‘We are dedicated to providing expertise to support organisations across the globe and we’re very excited by this opportunity to share the exceptional knowledge and experience we have here at Northumbria’. This is a two-way relationship which will not only improve access and quality of care in Ireland but will also be of great benefit to our own organisations here in Northumberland who can learn a great deal from this process.’
